We know work organization is an important part of completing projects successfully. Therefore, on every project, these seven steps are followed:
In the first step of the process, we collect all inputs - piping diagrams, yard standards, guidelines and schedules related to the project. We insure that adequate work organization is established as a first step to successfully completing the project.
This means that work is equally distributed, internal work schedules are created and weekly plans put in place.
This basic 3D model includes main equipment with feedback to machinery basic design and Hull department. Proper placement of main equipment and general layout of ship’s compartments is an important second step that needs to be communicated between departments, so it facilitates optimal modelling in future steps of the project.
Next step in the process is modelling all other project equipment, HVAC ducting, main cable trays and large diameter piping routes – according to, and in communication with, basic design piping diagrams and schematics.
These will take up most of the available space within ship’s Hull, therefore it is important for the routes to be thoughtfully designed to also allow space for later phase components.
Then, all main pipelines from every ship’s system are designed in 3D model. Special care is taken to ensure every pipeline shown on piping diagram has it’s correct representation in model. Any changes that are needed for optimization of the diagrams are now communicated to diagram designers.
In this step, routing of piping, HVAC, electro and other installations is detailed and finalized. System specific components, guidelines and requirements are implemented, ensuring that correct specifications regarding pipe class, thickness, surface treatment etc. are applied.
Every item in the model is assigned correct attributes, so that each system is ready for production documentation and material ordering phase of the project.
Once the model is ready, we proceed to documentation making. From prefabrication drawings and assembly drawings of ship’s sections to all other specific documentation needed by production department. Using standardized methods, we ensure that documentation is clear and easy to understand and production runs smoothly. In this phase also the material lists are created directly from model.
Every task and project has Checking list adjusted to requirements Checking items are stored digitally and paper copy (“old school”). Every project and every task has a checking list adjusted to requirements. Checking items are stored digitally and in paper copy.
This guarantees that every step of the process is done correctly, so any future problems in production and assembly are avoided as much as possible.
